io_cdsf_config(1M)io_cdsf_config(1M)NAMEio_cdsf_config - communicate with the cluster device special file dae‐
mon (iocdsfd) and display cluster device special files
SYNOPSISDESCRIPTION
The command provides a set of options that can be used to communicate
with the cluster device special file daemon on a particular node.
Cluster device special files provide a consistent set of device special
files across a set of cluster nodes. The cluster device special files
of a LUN will be the same on any node in a specified set of nodes that
share the LUN. The set of cluster nodes across which cluster device
special files need to be created can be specified using the command
(see cmsetdsfgroup(1M)).
The cluster device special file daemon is responsible for creating the
cluster device special files across a cluster. The user must execute
to initiate cluster device special file creation. Cluster device spe‐
cial file daemon creates the block and character device special files
in the and directories, respectively.
Cluster device special file creation requires the patch to Serviceguard
A.11.20 that contains the cluster-wide device special file (cDSF)
enhancement, and possibly other dependent patches. See the latest ver‐
sion of the for more information.

Options
Displays the conflicting device special files.
A cluster device special file is said to be conflicting if the
same disk has different cluster device special files on differ‐
ent nodes. See the section for more details.
If there are no conflicts, the option returns the message
below:
Display cluster device special files. The display format of this option
is as follows:
If is invoked when conflicting device special files are present
on the system, then the option displays the messages below:
The method of conflict resolution is explained in detail under
the section.
When cluster device special files are not available, the option
returns with the following message:
This scenario can occur when the tries to display the cluster
device special files when is in the process of creating cluster
device special files.
Displays current status of the cluster device special file daemon
The message below means the daemon is up and running.
The message below is displayed when quorum is not satisfied;
and this message implies that the daemon is not up on all nodes
of the cluster.
In this case the user must run
to create cluster device special files.
The message below is displayed when conflicts are detected:
Displays the usage message.
Displays the version information.
DIAGNOSTICS
Conflict Resolution
When two or more nodes have different cluster device special files for
the same shared disk device, the daemon reports it as a conflict. In
this case, the user should resolve the conflicts by removing the con‐
flicting cluster device special files on the respective nodes. The
command (see rm(1M)) can be used to remove a conflicting cluster device
special file.
After the conflicts are cleared, user should run:
(see cmsetdsfgroup(1M)). This will restart the process of cluster
device special file creation.
Display Conflicts
The conflicting cluster device special files can be displayed by using
Resolve Conflicts
Remove conflicting cluster device special files using on the respective
device special files.
WARNINGS
io_redirect_dsf command
The command may fail to redirect persistent dsf's if there is a corre‐
sponding cluster device special file (cDSF) present. In this case the
user must manually remove the cDSFs mapping to the particular persis‐
tent dsf before using the command.
Integrity Virtual machine (IVM) Clusters
The cDSF creation is not supported on clusters with a mixture of IVM
Virtual I/O (VIO) guests and physical nodes. Please note that this
restriction applies only for clusters with a mixture of VIO guests and
physical nodes. The CDSFs are created successfully on clusters with
Accelerated Virtual I/O (AVIO) guests and physical nodes.
RETURN VALUE
returns:
Upon normal completion.
If is unable to communicate with the cluster device special file dae‐
mon
If is in the process of creating cluster device special files.
Upon syntax error.
EXAMPLES
To display cluster device special files:
FILES
System log file.
Name of file where the cluster device special
daemon(iocdsfd) logs messages.
