SYS$DGBLSC (OpenVMS) SYS$DGBLSC (OpenVMS)
NAME
shmctl - perform shared memory control operations
shmdt - detach a shared memory region
SYS$DGBLSC - Delete global section
EXPLAINATION
The Digital UNIX shmctl and shmdt functions combined are similar to the
OpenVMS SYS$DGBLSC system service. The shmctl function can be called
with the command (second) argument set to IPC_RMID to mark a shared
memory region for deletion. The shared memory section will be deleted
when the last process that has attached to it calls shmdt to detach
from it. The shmdt function actually detaches the shared memory sec‐
tion from the virtual memory map of the process.
