INSIGHT(1)INSIGHT(1)NAME
insight, iiv - The IRIS InSight Online Documentation Viewer (obsolete)
SYNOPSISinsight [ -n [ -l books_location ] ]
DESCRIPTION
The IRIS InSight Viewer has been replaced by the infosearch(1) method of
viewing online documentation. The /usr/sbin/insight application simply
runs the infosearch command if no command line options are specified.
Otherwise, you can trigger a "non-web-server" mode through the use of the
insight command line options described below.
DEFINITIONS
A bookshelf is defined as a directory containing a set of books. By
default, bookshelves are located in:
/usr/share/Insight/library/SGI_bookshelves
To examine a sample bookshelf, look under this default path. Most of the
directories contained under this area are defined as bookshelves. By
convention, below each of those bookshelf directories exists a
subdirectory named "books". The "books" subdirectory contains all
available online books for this bookshelf.
For example, examining the path:
/usr/share/Insight/library/SGI_bookshelves/SGI_EndUser/books/Desktop_UG
SGI_EndUser is the bookshelf and Desktop_UG is the book.
OPTIONS-n This puts the insight command in a "non-web-server" mode, allowing
you to browse the existing bookshelves and books you have available
on your system using your standard web-browser. Be aware that
searching and many other features that are found in infosearch will
not be available to you in this mode.
-l The -l books_location option can be used in conjunction with the -n
option. This allows you to designate a specific bookshelf or library
location to load. By default, the location is:
/usr/share/Insight/library/SGI_bookshelves.
You can use this command line option to specify a bookshelf such as:
/usr/share/Insight/library/SGI_bookshelves/SGI_Developer
This option is only valid when used with the -n option (otherwise,
it is ignored).
